Project Based Calendaring System - Home

What is PBCS?

Project-Based Calendaring System (in short PBCS)
is an open source web-based calendaring system, designed to be an useful aid for people who manage schedules for one or more persons. The main feature of PBCS, which distinguishes it from all other calendar applications, is that schedule planners can plan schedules for other people easily using day or week overviews showing multiple people at once. There are the regular single-user overviews for those who look mainly at their own calendar. For people on the road it is now possible to sync your appointments into a Palm PDA.

Here are two examples where PBCS can be used very well.

Example 1:

A project planner of a company needs to plan projects of 10 or more days on 9 persons. Using the Multi-Week overview the planner is able to see who is busy during the weeks the project should be executed and who is not. In addition the project planner can add project labels to the appoints, making it possible to track how many hours were assigned to a project and how many of them are used until today.

Example 2:

A doctors office having four docters available for consults. The office people must schedule consults for the doctors and see which doctor is available on a short times notice. They can use the multi-day overview showing all doctors and their schedules. Using this overview the office people can see which doctor is first available.

PBCS is an open source project written in PHP mainly developed using MySQL as database. If you understand how to install PBCS you can use it freely. Check out the PBCS-pages using the PBCS-icon in the menubar. Read PBCS News in the News page of PBCS.
